Form: Herbaceous perennial.
Bark:
Stem/Bud: Stems are erect.
Leaves: Leaves are palmately compound and resemble the leaves of the horse-chestnut tree, Aesculus. They are made up of seven, 4-10 in. long, serrated leaflets. Leaf petioles and veins are covered with shaggy, brown hairs.
Fall Color:
Flower: Flowers are pink to white florets in flat, broad clusters on panicles two feet long. Flower stalks are covered with shaggy brown hairs. Flowers in May to June.
Fruit: Fruit are dehiscent capsules with many seeds.
Uses: Use in back of the perennial border or pond where the soil is moist. Use as a cut flower.
Problems:
Culture: Grow in full sun if the soil is constantly moist or in part-shade in ordinary, moist, rich soil. Allow enough room for its wide spread.
